Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By using EtchedQR (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What the Service Does

EtchedQR is a free tool that generates static QR codes: the destination URL you provide is encoded directly into the QR pattern in your browser, and the resulting image is downloaded to your device. No account is required. An optional "Auto-label" feature sends the destination URL to Google's Gemini API to suggest a title, description, and category — see our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use EtchedQR to generate codes that encode URLs which are illegal, fraudulent, malicious (including phishing or malware distribution), infringing on someone else's intellectual property, or otherwise harmful to others.

You agree not to abuse the Service — for example, by automating requests at a volume intended to disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, or by attempting to circumvent any technical limitations.

4. Your Responsibility for What You Encode

Because static QR codes encode exactly the URL you provide with no server-side moderation, you are solely responsible for the destination and content of any code you generate and distribute (print, display, or share). EtchedQR does not review, endorse, or control destination content.

5. No Account, No Guarantee of Availability

EtchedQR requires no account and no subscription — the codes it generates encode your URL directly, so they keep working as long as your destination page exists, independent of whether the EtchedQR website itself remains online. That said, we don't guarantee the EtchedQR website, generator, or Auto-label feature will be available at all times, or that any particular feature will remain free or unchanged indefinitely.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that generated codes will scan correctly under every printing method, material, size, or lighting condition — see our sizing guide for guidance on producing a reliably scannable code.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EtchedQR and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of revenue or business, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including from a code that fails to scan, a destination page you no longer control, or misuse of a code by a third party.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do.

9. Governing Law

EtchedQR is operated by Nitesh Sharma as an individual, based in India, without a separate registered company. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
